Tutorial Stage 2
If you have completed stage 1 of the tutorial this is what you should see now.
If you card positions look different, check the moves window (click on the View menu and then the Moves Window item if it is not displayed). It should look something like this.
If it looks different, you can use the Undo button on the toolbar to go back to the last correct move. Alternatively you can click on a line containing a move (so it is highlighted) and then click the Go To button. You will see that the undone moves are not removed from the list, so you can Go To to Redo back to the original position.
For example, click on move number 3 and then the Goto button (or press ctrl-g). All the move made after move 3 will be undone and the Moves window will change to look like this.
Now go back to your original position by clicking the Redo (or pressing ctrl-r) a number of times, The Moves window and the cards should look like the pictures at the top of this page again.
OK, back to the game. It would be good if we could get that Jack of Diamonds back down from his Free Cell - he's taking up useful space. If we could free-up that Queen of Clubs in the second Column then we could put the Jack on her. Unfortunately, we would have to move the King of Spades off her, and Kings can only be moved to empty cells or columns (because we can't put a King on a higher card as there isn't one). Perhaps we can clear the first Column as it is has the fewest cards in it.
Look at that Three of Clubs. You might think it best to move it onto the Two of clubs - it's the idea of the game after all. However, it could also go on the Four of Diamonds and it might be more useful there. What if later you want to move a red two. I'll let you choose. (Even if you have Auto Move to Home Cell enabled the computer will not move the Three of clubs as it knows that it could still be of use.) Either way, you can free-up Column 1 and then move the King of Spades into the space made. This lets you move the Jack of Diamonds onto the Queen of Clubs and the Ten of Spades onto the Jack.
- Move the Ten of Spades to a Free Cell (we will be able to put it on the Jack of Diamonds later).
- Move the Six of Clubs in Column 7 up to a Free Cell. (Do you see why?)
- Move the Seven of Hearts onto the Eight of Clubs.
- Now you can move the Six of Clubs back down onto the Seven of Hearts.
