Tutorial
The figure above shows the start of game number 1663741695. All games in Freecell3D have a number between 1 and 2,000,000,000. The same number on different PCs will always produce the same game. If 2 billion games is not enough for you then let us know and we will add some more! (Note: the Evaluation version of Freecell3D has only 5 games.)
To begin playing this game click the File menu and then the Specify Game option. In the window you are presented with enter the number 1663741695 and the click start. (Sorry it's a long number, this game is a good example.) Check that the card order matches the order in the figure above. If it does not then you may have entered the number incorrectly. If you have Auto Move to Home Cells set in the Move Options then the Ace of Clubs will already have been moved for you. If you want to disable this feature click here to find out how. Alternatively leave it enabled - you will find that some of the moves you are told to do in this tutorial will be done for you by the computer.
In the Evaluation version of Freecell3D this tutorial game is number 1, not 1663741695.
Looking at the above game, there are a number of way in which we can start:
- The Four of Diamonds could be moved over the Five of Clubs.
- The Queen of Hearts or the Queen of Diamonds could be moved over the King of Spades.
- The Ace of Clubs could be moved to any Home Cell.
- The card at the bottom of any column could be moved to any Free Cell.
Looking at the above options, the best idea is to first move the Ace, as it isn't helping us where it is. Depending on how the move method is set, either click on the Ace and drag it to any of the home cells, or click on the card and the click on the Home Cell. If you haven't changed any of the game options yet then you will need to drag the card - it should follow the mouse pointer across the table. If the card doesn't drop where you want it to, check that the mouse pointer is over the Home Cell when you release the mouse button.
Tip: If you click on the View menu and then the Moves Window item a window will pop up, showing the move you have just made. You can close this window if you like or leave it to see your next moves as they are added.
Now it would be a good idea to move that Four of Diamond onto the Five of Clubs - do it now. Now you have revealed the Two of Clubs, which you can move onto the Ace of Clubs on its Home Cell (this might be done automatically if Auto Move to Home Cellis enabled - see above). We are making progress and we haven't even used a Free Cell yet. This is what it should all look like at the moment.
There are plenty of moves we can do now. Lets use a Free Cell - move the Jack of Diamonds to the first Free Cell. This frees the Ace of Spades so we can move that to one of the empty Home Cells. We might as well put the Two of Spades on top of it. Once again, the computer will do this for you if Auto Move to Home Cell is enabled.
Do the above moves and then click here to proceed to the next stage of the tutorial.
