Using Freecell3D - Undo, Redo, and Goto

Undo

Freecell3D allows you to undo any move you have made during the game. Each time you select Undo the previous move will be reversed, and this can be repeated right back to the start of the game. There are a number of ways to invoke Undo:

Redo

Once you have un-done one or more move you can decide to Redo them a move at a time, right back to the last new move made. Redo can be invoked in the following ways: If the Redo button or menu item is disabled it usually means that you have reached to last new move that you made in the game, or that no moves have been undone.

Note: If you undo an number of moves and then make a new move then all moves past the new game position are forgotten. Redo will be disabled until you undo more moves.

If you look at the moves window after an undo operation, you will see that the moves you have undone are not removed. These moves will have a icon next to them so show that they have been undone (and are available to be re-done). The current move will have an icon next to it, and all previous moves will have an icon.

To summarize:

Goto

From the Moves Window you can also use Goto to save time when undoing or re-doing large numbers of moves. To use Goto, select the move you want to go to by clicking on the line in the list with the primary mouse button. The line should highlight. Click the Goto toolbar button (or use the Moves menu or press ctrl-G. You should see the cards automatically progress to the selected position move-by-move. You can control whether the operation happens as fast as possible, or at the currently selected move rate using the Fast Goto option.

Disabling Undo, Redo, and Goto

There is an option to disable Undo operations or to allow Undo to just be used for the previous move. Some users might feel that allowing many moves to be undone counts as cheating, or that it is too tempting to step back when they get stuck. It is up to you. The option that allows a single move to be undone is useful to correct accidental mistakes. To set these options see Undo Options.

There is also an option to allow you to specify whether using multiple Undo counts as "assistance". Freecell 3D keeps a record of how many games you have played and how many you have completed (see Statistics). The completed games are split into those that you have completed without assistance, and those that you have asked for assistance on (eg by using the Solver). Only games solved without assistance count to your overall percentage success rate.
